"It is our function as artists to make the spectator to see the world our way, attempt to make art more than just something to look at, we want it to be something to be involved in, something too big to ignore."

I even dream about jewelry...

I just had a dream where I was given a black velvet box with a pair of small gold looped earrings in it, each had a dark polished stone dangling from it and were priced at $100. When I looked closer into the stone you could faintly see that there was a tiny silvery human skeleton crouched in fetal position in each one. They were suppose to be ancient and to have special powers. It was the coolest find and I bought them immediately. Now as I wake up I do find this to be very macabre in nature but still amazingly creative and unique, even if it was just a dream.

Also I remember seeing all sorts of other jewelry around, some of which was made of colorful paperclips set into intricate flower and almost damask looking designs for statement necklaces, bracelets, belts, and earrings. I used to make jewelry out of such things for fun as a kid, I wouldn't be surprised to find this actually out making a debut in a Marc by Marc Jacobs show next S/S. I almost feel compelled to make some myself!

I'm starting to feel the love.

Just a small preview:

The first pic is one of our favorite models, Mary C. from Vision in my dress from our promo photo shoot last week. (these photos were taken with my Blackberry so sorry if they are a bit fuzzy.) The other two pics are the prints that were designed by Angie Hanson aka HautePants (not for long) and printed by Ken Hannigan of Anthem Heart for my line "Love Monster" that will be shown at our show "I Feel Love" on June 12th @ the MN fashion space in NE Mpls.

I have no other life other than working on this show after hours and making people beautiful at Hairpolice during the day. I really hope it all pays off! Keep your heads up and eyes open and prepare for I Feel Love!!

Transformation

Well hello there.

It's been ages.

I have realized that things are changing. I know I keep repeating this, but I really haven't recognized this person that has emerged from the wreckage. I have made a transformation. Came out of the proverbial cocoon if you will. And I am becoming a beautifully color saturated butterfly. Not the drab moth dancing in a world of vivid hues as I imagined my myself in the years past.

Today I wake up with the urge to make heart shaped pancakes for my boo while listening to Au Revoir Simone and loving the early morning sunlight on my face. I don't get inspired by the darkness of my crisp navy taffeta or lush black velvet fabric remnants thrown about my sewing studio. I find myself shopping at Anthropology before Hot Topic, buying fancy things like antique wall hooks and sparkling hourglasses and I drool over tiny cotton sleeveless dresses adorned with snaps and grommets lacquered in red and pink. I close my eyes and I can see the perfect pair of red-orange kitten heels that I must have to complete the ensemble.

It's strange, I can't even imagine the places to don the dark couture costumey creations I have made in the past. I can only conjure up the art openings and dinner parties that the new conceptions of my new mind bring to me. I see the colors: yellow, red, pink, peach, lilac, beige, white and light gray. These will be modeled by fashionable ladies accessorized by vintage purses and frou frou hair pieces. This is a world that is new to me. Like Alice crossing through to the looking glass, is this imaginary or real? Will it all disappear in blink of an eye like so many other fleeting images have passed through my cerebellum? All I know is that I am delighted by this universe of iridescence and it seems that love might have been the catalyst; thank you Liza.

So yes, LOVE, love has conquered the shadows of the past, along with age.... I think I have finally moved on.... to a new domain... prepare for ready to wear.

I'm only into this to Enjoy.

It's been awhile.

Yah, I'm still here.

Finally awaken from my slumber.

I thought about getting rid of this blog all together. But now I realize I need it.

This is my journal, my diary, my confidant.

You may be reading and wondering why I would share these feelings and dreams with you.

Just imagine it as a intimate conversation between me and you, whoever you are.

I love to share. I have too much to keep it all to myself.

If I kept it all inside, I would burst into sparks.

I would flit away in the wind.

There would be nothing left of me, just the faint smell of sulfur left in the air.

I finally am beginning to find myself again.

This is an amazing experience.

My dreams, my art, my inspiration, my love, my music...these are what make me... me.

I feel like I have awakened a long lost lover,

she had been hiding away, in that corner, you know which one.

She was afraid I didn't want her anymore, she was afraid I had moved on.

And I strangely do feel a bit of sadness for this.

How could I have left her for so long?

How could I have forgotten her sweet voice?

Her soft touch, it runs through my whole soul.

Her kiss, she fills me with love, energy, creativity.

She gives me my life again.

I have missed you.

Thank you for waiting for so long.

Mistolin for you and for me. baby.

Every few months I travel to New York for work and I have a habit of stopping in to every bodega on the block. Why? Not because I am looking for that special porn mag with a cover of Lindsy Lohan, not because I need to buy yet another pack of fruit flavored trident gum and not even for the wonderful service I receive by the toothless man behind the counter with the unwanted glances at my lower regions, No, no, none of that. (although, if you know where I can get said porno mag, you need to hit a girl up) It is because of this wonderful product that Fabulouso can't even touch. It's the powdery scented cleaning product called Mistolin, in baby scent. Now in every other bodega you can find floral, lavender, gardenia, and apple. But NEVER EVER baby scent!!!

I became addicted to this stuff about five years ago when traveling to NYC on the spread the dread tour with Sonia Peterson (R.I.P.).  For some reason this stuff seems to be only on the coasts of our wonderful country, so I know I can usually pick a bottle or two up in the lower east side of Manhatten. But in the last two or three years this stuff has become as scarce as a Obama/Biden sticker on a suburban trophy wife's SUV. Seriously, when you use this all purpose wonder in your home you will be wisked away to another time when running around without pants on and putting different body parts in your mouth was totally acceptable. I'm not joking, it was seriously the biggest and best purchase I have made in the big apple since, idono, since, maybe that Liquid Silk I get from Toys In Babeland. (Which I still have to snatch up every time. No pun intended.)

Well, last week I came upon a pleasant surprise, I was crouching down in hopes to catch a peek at the cleaning products in this special bodega on Ludlow St. , very close to Kropps and Bobbers (the salon I work out of when in town) and I got lucky people. I saw the familiar pinky purple tinted solution with the happy little ducky on the front. I actually giggled out loud and started clapping like a two year old!! (this stuff has magic powers I swear!) I grabbed their whole stock, only five, it must be a popular scent. There was at least twenty of every other scent, I couldn't have been happier!!! I didn't even think about the trouble this was going to cause when we got the luggage to the airport with the weight restrictions and bag limits. We came in at exactly 49.9 lbs, *phew* luckily I didn't have to give up any of my "babys". I don't know what I would have done if it had come to that. Maybe throw out those hot Japanese thigh high boots I bought in china town. Naw..... well maybe.

Why is this stuff so amazing? Let me count the ways.... at 99 cents a bottle, you can use it on your hardwood floors, you can use it on your counters, you can use it in your tub, and my all time favorite; you can even use it in your laundry! I am pretty fucking excited people. There is nothing better than walking into your baby fresh home after a long day of work surrounded by smelly adults. Now your home too can smell as fresh as a baby's bottom! Now what can we do about your co-workers. Hmm... Secret has come out with something haven't they??
Until next time. xo- M

Junko Mizuno + Fornarina = L♡VE!!!

SOOOOOOOO......

I don't know if all yall know about this yet. But,
Junko Mizuno
(my fav. artist) has teamed up with Fornarina (my fav. design label) and have come out with some new cute clothes, shoes, bags and accessories featuring her art for their fall/winter 2008 line. Um,
*drool*
.

I am hoping that our local store
Lava Lounge
located in uptown Minneapolis will be carrying the line. Although I haven't had the chance to check it out as of yet. I know that Fornarina's items aren't always easy on the checkbook so I will stay away for a bit longer, but I don't think I will be able to hold off for long. OMFG... please. They made this line just for girls like me after all. ^_^
